The Citadel – Explore the ancient ruins of this former Royal seat and capital of Vietnam.  The remains of the citadel are a popular attraction amongst tourists due to their historic importance and architecture.  The entire complex is alive with monuments and ruins. A must see.

Royal Tombs – Amongst the relics and ruins in Hue are several Royal tombs.  Here, you will find the tombs of Emeperors Minh Mang, Tu Duc and Khai Dinh which are a wonder to behold.  Explore the ancient architecture and design of these historic sights, set in beautiful grounds.  Tours around these and a further four tombs can be enjoyed.

Ho Quyen, Tiger Fighting Arena - Constructed in the 1830s as a ground to hold fights between Tigers and Elephants, Ho Quyen was part of the Minh Mang dynasty.  Although no fights have taken place since 1900, the grounds themselves remain a fine example of Vietnamese architecture.

Thanh Toan Bridge - Standing for over 200 years is the Thanh Toan.  A tile roofed bridge, Thanh Toan stands over the Nhu Y River.  Constructed of wood, this small bridge is another example of the intricate architecture that Vietnam is historically famous for.

Thien Mu Pagoda – A popular attraction amongst tourists is the Thien Mu Pagoda.  Originally built in 1601 and added to over many years, the most recognizable aspect, Phuoc Duyen Tower, was erected in 1844 under order of Emperor Thieu Tri. Thien Mu is Hues most popular pagoda with its golden Buddha images, stone turtle and great bell.

Long Chau Temple - Located near the Tiger arena is the Long Chau Temple.  Known locally as Dien Voi Re or the Palace of the Crying Elephants, it was used as a place to worship and bury many fallen war elephants.  Was with many Asian countries, the Elephant is a symbol of royalty.


Art Galleries - Hue is home to two galleries showcasing some of the finest Vietnamese paintings.  The two branches of the New Space Art Gallery are definitely worth a visit, as is the Boi Tran Art Gallery.
